Lord, I want to do first what is right in your sight.

My payers are frequent and fervent . . . to do which is right, first in the sight of God, then in the view of my family, and lastly in that of the Society to which I belong.

~~Elizabeth Fry

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
Burned out. Stressed. Drained. Exhausted. How many of us have used one of these words to describe our current emotional setting? One cause of this overload can be letting ourselves take on more than we can handle, more than we should, more than what God is asking of us.
Sometimes when we think our priorities are okay with God, we are shocked to discover that everything has been askew. No wonder we feel so tired! If we are doing what is right first in the sight of God, we will never burn out. But when we add tasks and responsibilities on top of what he requires of us—no matter how noble or religious they may be—our priorities slip out of order.
Fervently pray, along with Elizabeth Fry, that God would set your priorities. He will line them up and show you his will for you—his very best for you.
