This
morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest

When
we think about losing weight or accomplishing some other goal, we long for the
determination that sees goals through to their completion. After all, a goal
anchored to the will is usually accomplished, isn’t it? But we must first have
the belief that the goal can be accomplished.
This
is the kind of attitude that Evelyn Underhill mentions in regard to prayer. The
“determined fixing of our will” means we can’t be shaken off by discouragement,
silence, or answers long in coming. We just keep making a beeline to the
Father, pressing steadily toward the throne of grace.
When
we’re desperate enough, our needs and those of others drive us to keep seeking,
keep knocking without deterrence. A steady cry for help or mercy is never
ignored.
