Knowing where you are going takes the uncertainty out of getting there.

~~Anne Graham Lotz

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
Distress. Disappointment. Disease. Death. Struggles in life can make our hands tremble, our hearts pound, and our knees buckle.
Until we reflect on our final destination.
When we know we’re going to heaven, certainty fills our hearts as we look forward to the joy, beauty, and welcome that we know will meet us there. As we fix our eyes on our ultimate destination, we have the courage and the hope to handle whatever comes our way.
The road you’re on today may be littered with fear, anxiety, or worry. The future may not look or feel like a sure thing.
Look up! Heaven is a sure thing. God can be counted on. Keep going, regardless of the twists, turns, and unexpected detours on your journey. Keep going, certain of the One who saved you. Keep going, letting the picture and promise of heaven fill your steps with confidence and hope.
Prayer for Meditation
Thank you, God, for reminding me where I’m going so I can confidently face today.
Scripture for Meditation
Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3

God, help me to give up my resentment and bitterness. I want to be free

I knew that I had a choice, I could give in to my resentment  . . .
or I could choose to believe what God’s Word says to be true
whether I felt it was or not.

~~Gracia Burnham
This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
When Gracia Burnham penned these words, she didn’t mean them lightly. She had been held captive in a jungle by terrorists for over a year—on the brink of starvation, without modern conveniences, stripped of all freedom and privacy. She recognized that she was held doubly captive—physically and emotionally—If she allowed herself to become angry and to resent her captors. She chose to trust God, knowing that even this horrible circumstance was in his good and perfect plan for her life. She chose to let God work in her rather than putting up walls of bitterness.
What is it, beloved, that is causing you hurt, bitterness, resentment? You have a choice. You can give in to those feelings or, like Gracia, you can choose to believe that what God’s Word says is true, whether it feels like it or not.
One choice leads to captivity, the other to freedom.
Prayer for Meditation
God, help me to give up my resentment and bitterness. I want to be free.
Scripture for Meditation
Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to this world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. John 17:13-17

Come Home to the Present Moment

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young.
Sit quietly with me, letting all your fears and worries bubble up to the surface of your consciousness. There, in the Light of My Presence, the bubbles pop and disappear. However, some fears surface over and over again, especially fear of the future. You tend to project yourself mentally into the next day, week, month, year, decade; and you visualize yourself coping badly in those times. What you are seeing is a false image, because it doesn’t include Me. Those gloomy times that you imagine will not come to pass, since My Presence will be with you at all times.
When a future-oriented worry assails you, capture it and disarm it by suffusing the Light of My Presence into that mental image. Say to yourself, “Jesus will be with me then and there. With His help, I can cope!” Then, come home to the present moment, where you can enjoy Peace in My Presence.
Scripture for Meditation
Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “that is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:22-26
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
