God, thank you for dotting reminders of your promises and light across my black night.

Millions of stars glittered against its black backdrop. Was this what Abraham saw when God made His promise? Stars so brilliant and numerous no one could doubt His omnipotence?

~~Deeanne Gist

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
It’s humbling to gaze into the inky blackness of night at the infinite pinpricks of twinkling lights. You feel small. The vastness of the heavens adorned with spectacular white jewels surrounds you, and in that solitary moment you grasp a glimmer of light in your own world of darkness: God is unfathomably big. And if such a God makes promises, he can surely keep them.
As the Lord impressed upon Abraham with his vivid celestial show, he also promises to love you, redeem you, and prosper you for your faithfulness. It’s written in the stars across the sky, after all—his beautiful reminder that if he calls the stars by name you can be assured that you are immeasurably more precious to him. Remember as you stand diminutive, smack in the middle of God’s big canvas for your life, that he has painted his love for you all across the heavens.
Prayer for Meditation
God, thank you for dotting reminders of your promises and light across my black night.
Scripture for Meditation
To whom will you compare me?
Who is my equal? asks the Holy One
Look up into the heavens.
Who created all the stars?
He brings them out like an army, one after another,
calling each by its name.
Because of his great power and incomparable strength,
not a single one is missing.
O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Isaiah 40:25-27

Help me come out of hiding. I want to live my life for you—and with you.

It is only when we hide that we are living in rebellion. Perhaps not the kind of rebellion that kicks up its heels at authority, but rebellion against the glorious gift of the outrageous love of God.

~~Sheila Walsh

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
Hiding from God takes many forms. We can hide in busyness and in over commitment. We can hide by doing good things, convincing ourselves that we are in God’s will. We set ourselves on doing things, but these may not be God’s things.
Hiding means rebelling. When we hide from God, in whatever manner we do it, we’re saying that we don’t want to hear from him. Why? Well, he might make us adjust our plans or change our direction or even make us sit and listen to him
The truth is, we can’t hide from God. And it is also true that in that rebellion—in all that crazy busyness—we’re actually missing out on the outrageous love of God. For his love knows just what we need, just how to fill our hearts, just how to give us joy.
There is no reason to hide. Come into the light.
Prayer for Meditation
Help me come out of hiding. I want to live my life for you—and with you.
Scripture for Meditation
I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart;
I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power.
I have told everyone in the great assembly
of your unfailing love and faithfulness. (Psalm 40:10)

Keep Your Eyes On Me

Our prayer and meditation this morning for Sally’s healing is an excerpt from Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young.

I am the firm foundation on which you can dance and sing and celebrate My Presence. This is My high and holy calling for you; receive it as a precious gift. Glorifying and enjoying Me is a higher priority than maintaining a tidy, structured life. Give up your striving to keep everything under control—an impossible task and a waste of precious energy.
My guidance for each of My children is unique. That’s why listening to Me is so vital for your well-being. Let me prepare you for the day that awaits you and point you in the right direction. I am with you continually so don’t’ be intimidated by fear. Though it stalks you, it cannot harm you, as long as you cling to My hand. Keep your eyes on Me, enjoying Peace in My Presence.

Scripture for Meditation
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Protect them, so all who love your name may be filled with joy. Psalm 5:11.

Now glory be to God? By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Ephesians 3:20
And now, all glory to God, who is able to keep you from stumbling, and who will bring you into his glorious presence innocent of sin and with great joy. All glory to him, who alone is God our Savior, though Jesus Christ our Lord. Yes, glory, majesty, power, and authority belong to him, in the beginning, now, and forevermore. Amen. Jude 24-25

No one will be able to stand their ground against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Joshua 1:5
