Father, life can be hard, but you are my anchor, my support, my comfort.

Time, genuine religion . . . is the anchor of our hope.
The ornament of youth, the comfort of age;
our support in affliction and adversity,
and the solace of that solemn hour, which we must all experience.

~~Abigail Adams

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
Abigail Adams understood that the Christian life is not easy. Affliction and adversity come uninvited. Sadness and darkness may fill many of our days. God does not remove those experiences from us, however, when we trust in him, he offers great support and hope.
Like an anchor he holds us firm when the waves threaten. He ornaments our lives, giving beauty and meaning. He brings comfort as we age, for our future is bright and eternal. He supports us in times of affliction and adversity when our own strength fails. And he will be our solace in that final hour when we leave this life and go to him.
What love that he cares so much for us throughout our lives and then wraps his arms around us when our time on earth is finished. Such a wonderful God we have!
Prayer for Meditation
Father, life can be hard, but you are my anchor, my support, my comfort.
Scripture for Meditation
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:18-20
