God's love is ours for the asking

All the privilege I claim for my own sex (it is not a very enviable one: you need not covet it), is that of loving longest, when existence or when hope is gone.

~~Jane Austen

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
We might read and sigh over this description found in the novel Persuasion. Anne Elliot’s heart-wrenching statement shows her at her most persuasive and vulnerable. As Anne describes, a woman goes on loving, even after the hope of having that love returned is gone.
While many of us can relate to the resiliency of love, only God can lay claim to the title of “the one who loves the longest.” His love is fueled by faithfulness. He can no more stop loving than he can stop being faithful. He loves—often beyond hope—even those who continually reject him.
That love came in the form of a baby. That love allowed for death on a cruel cross. That love goes on from now into eternity. That love is ours for the asking. That love is offered to us.
That love is yours.
Prayer for Meditation
Father, thank you for giving me your everlasting love.
Scripture for Meditation
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. I Chronicles 16:34
