God is not reluctant to give you what you need

Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance. It is laying hold of His willingness.

~~Julian of Norwich

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.

God is just waiting to bless us. But too often we bring our prayers to him like attorneys preparing to present a case. We feel we need to convince God in order to overcome his reluctance.
Just the opposite. Prayer is laying hold of God’s willingness. His plan for each one of us is as different as our fingerprints; therefore, his answers and blessings will be according to our specific needs in alignment with his will.
Praying for blessings isn’t a selfish act; it is asking God to infuse your life with everything he has always wanted to give you but was only waiting for you to request. God is not reluctant to give you what you need. He is eager for you to receive his gifts with gratitude. You need only be willing.
He can’t wait to see what you’ll do with those gifts.
Prayer for Meditation
I pray for your blessings on my life, Lord, that I might use them for you.
Scripture for Meditation
You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. James 4:2-3
