This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
The
sixty-year-old woman is a familiar sight in her neighborhood. Even during long,
cold Midwestern winters, she walks the same route every day. During her walk,
she prays for salvation and spiritual growth for each household she passes, even
if she hasn’t met the family. She’s seen God answer her prayers in surprising
ways in the lives of the neighbors she does know. As a result, she expresses
confidence that God is at work in the lives of those she has yet to meet.
Her
intercession has had an impact on her own spiritual journey. “The longer I
pray, the more I sense the depths of God’s love for me, and for those around me.”
She understands St. Catherine’s passion—the power of continual prayers for one’s
neighbors.
Your
prayer time today is an opportunity to “increase the fire of your desire” and
to bring those around you before your heavenly Father.
