If we trust we don't need to worry

By our worrying and fretting, we are really saying, “I don’t believe in any God who can help me, and I do not trust Him.” We need to develop a sense of dependence on the Fatherliness of God.
~~Catherine Marshall

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
The role of father is to be protector and provider. Our heavenly Father does this for us. We have nothing to fear when we truly believe in him. We know we can trust him to both protect and provide.
Why then all this anxiety? Why do we spend so much time afraid—wondering if we will be provided for, cared for, protected? Do we not understand that when we worry and fret, we are basically telling God that we don’t trust him to handle our problems?
If we trust we don’t need to worry . . . do we?
When anxiety creeps in, as it does for all of us, we can use it as a wake-up call. Worry time is the perfect time to surrender. We need our Father. He has not left us. Our Father knows our needs.
Are you worrying and fretting today? Depend on your heavenly Father. He will protect. He will provide.
Prayer for Meditation
Heavenly Father, I place my trust in you. I depend on you.
Scripture for Meditation
“So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t need to plant of harvest or put food in barns because God feeds then. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not! And if worry can’t do little things like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:22-26
