This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time. 

Ever been absolutely sure of something—so sure you would bet your life on it? We can pretty much count on the sun rising in the morning and that summer will follow spring, but beyond that, few things in life are certain. People and situations change. Promises are broken. 

As believers, however, we do have absolute assurance in one thing: Jesus is ours—in our lives, in our hearts. Having him gives us a foretaste of what is to come, the glory he promises us in heaven with his Father. We are guaranteed salvation because we have been purchased by God with the blood of his Son. That blood has washed away our sin and made us clean. And we have been reborn by his Holy Spirit. We are brand new from the inside out.  

You can be certain of this—Jesus is yours. And his promises are yours as well.

Thank you for giving me blessed assurance in you.

It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.
