Father, I want to be content with all that you have given.

I have always, essentially, been waiting. Waiting to become . . . something else, waiting to be that person I always thought I was on the verge of becoming, waiting for that life I thought I would have.

~~Shauna Niequist

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.

Some people spend their entire lies waiting. Days pass, people come and go, relationships wither, opportunities disappear—all because they had their eyes focused on the horizon waiting for something better. If we wait for life that we thought we would have, we miss the life right in front of us. That would be a sad legacy indeed.
It is hard to just be happy in the now, especially if now doesn’t look like you had hoped or planned. When planted, the seeds of discontent will grow into full-fledged bitterness and despair. How much better to look around at the now, be content with all that God has given, and thank him for the blessings he has provided.

Let God take what you thought life would be and give you a new focus. Contentment will get you there.
