If you live long enough, you’re bound to encounter some rough storms

If you live long enough, you’re bound to encounter some rough storms. No one is immune to tragedy in this life. The house is the same, the storm is the same, but what makes the difference is the foundation.
~~Lisa Beamer

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
A seaside home with pilings driven deep into the sand might withstand a tropical storm. A brick Midwest farmhouse secured to concrete pads hidden deep beneath the ground can avoid being scattered for miles by a tornado. Both homes have secure foundations.
The house on the beach, the house in “tornado alley”–both will eventually encounter a rough storm. So will we. Not one of us will get to the end without a few bumps and bruises along the way. Those of us who will survive—who will stand strong—are those with the solid foundation. And that foundation is our faith in Jesus Christ.
Storms will come, beloved. When your foundation is secure, so are you. The winds may whip and the waves may spray, but you will stand strong.
Prayer for Meditation
My secure foundation is you, Jesus. I need you always.
Scripture for Meditation
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. Matthew 7:24-25
