Under the Circumstances

His ultimate plan for our lives has very little to do with our circumstances. Those are just the tools he uses to transform us into a vessel he can use.

Our prayer and meditation this morning comes from Take My Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
If we belong to Christ, the victory is already ours. But why does life often feel more like a loss than a win? Why do our circumstances seem to roll over us like ocean waves, threatening to sink our little boats?
Our circumstances seem to define us, but God would have us think just the opposite. He calls us to define ourselves as his children who are being transformed into people he can use. The circumstances are just tools to give us humility, compassion, understanding, grace, and other attributes that will help make us the people he wants us to be.
You may feel like you’re sinking, like the waves are too strong for your little boat. But God is building a ship that can cross even the roughest seas safely.
You are never “under the circumstances”; you are sailing through the circumstances . . . with God.
Prayer for Meditation
Transform me, Lord so that I am a vessel you can use.
Scripture for Meditation
My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises! Wake up, my soul!
Psalm 108:1
