Let us never say, “God has given me nothing to do,” He has. It
lies on our doorstep.
Do it, and He will show you something else.
~~Elisabeth Elliot
This
morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest
Christian Women Writers of All Time.
There’s
nothing to do,” the child whines, only to have mom answer, “Well, I can find
you something to do . . .” Moms have a great way of finding chores for a bored
child; there is always something that needs to be done.
It’s
the same with our Christian lives. We look around, bored, thinking that God has
given us nothing to do. However, as Elisabeth Elliot says, the next job we can
do for him is right on our doorstep. The job may not seem very spiritual. It may
not even be noticeable. But if God has placed it in front of you, chances are
he wants you to get it done for him.
It
just boils down to paying attention, listening, and keeping an eye out at the
front door. You never know what God’s going to bring your way.
In
God’s kingdom, there is always something to do.
Prayer
for Meditation
God, help me to see and do the work
before me.
Scripture
for Meditation
Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless
days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is
your reward for all your earthly toil. Whatever you do, do well. For when you
go the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom. Ecclesiastes
9:10

for Meditation
