Thank you, Lord, for loving me. You’ve captured my heart.

He could have roared on top of a mountain, but he whispered in the voice of a baby. He could have ordered our obedience; instead he calls for our hearts.

~~Sheila Walsh

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
From the farthest galaxies to the tiniest microscopic creature—God is the creator of all. We exist because he allowed us to.
As such, does he not have the right to demand our love and obedience? Indeed, he had every right to roar from the top of the mountain and demand that we obey him or else. Instead, he decided to let us choose. Instead of yelling at us from a mountain, he whispered at us in the voice of a baby—his Son—born to save us. Instead of ordering us to obey, he woos us to love.
We choose to respond because we see eyes brimming with tenderness. We willingly comply because our souls are captivated by his grace. We obey because it shows that we love the one who lavishes love on us.
God wants you to choose him today. That’s how much he loves you.
Prayer for Meditation
Thank you, Lord, for loving me. You’ve captured my heart.
Scripture for Meditation
But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
