This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
The thought of it causes our faces to turn red and our heads to drop in despair. FAILURE. We don’t always understand why it is a part of life. We try to avoid it. Yet, in spite of our best efforts, it happens. Shame, disappointment, and humiliation hit us like a tidal wave. People distance themselves from us. Ministry crumbles before our eyes.
From the ashes of devastation, God can bring beauty. God permits hard things—yes, even failures—because he knows that through the failures come great victories, deep lessons, lasting changes.
God can bring beauty from the ashes of our failure, too, if we let him, if we choose to believe he is still at work, if we trust him enough.
Are you facing hard things today? Trust God for the victory, the lessons, the changes. He loves you. He wants to bring beauty from the ashes.

God, I trust you with my hard things today. I know you can bring beauty from ashes.

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the Lord has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory. Isaiah 61:3
