Walk in the Light

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young.
Bring me the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Take nothing for granted, not even the rising of the sun. Before Satan tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, thankfulness was as natural as breathing. Satan’s temptation involved pointing Eve to the one thing that was forbidden her. The garden was filled with luscious, desirable fruits, but Eve focused on the one fruit she couldn’t have rather than being thankful for the many good things freely available. This negative focus darkened her mind, and she succumbed to temptation.
When you focus on what you don’t have or on situations that displease you, your mind also becomes darkened. You take for granted salvation, sunshine, flowers, and countless other gifts from Me. You look for what is wrong and refuse to enjoy life until that is “fixed.”
When you approach Me with thanksgiving, the Light of My Presence pours into you, transforming you through and through. Walk in the Light with Me by practicing the discipline of thanksgiving.
Scripture for Meditation
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. Psalm 116:17
“Of course you may eat it,” the woman told him. It’s only the fruit from the tree of the center of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God says we must not eat it or even touch it, or we will die.”
“You won’t die!” The serpent hissed. “God knows that your eyes will be opened when you eat it. You will become just like God, knowing everything, both good and evil”
The woman was convinced. The fruit looked so fresh and delicious, and it would make her so wise! So she ate some of the fruit. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her. Then he ate it too. Genesis 3:2-6
But if we are living in the light of God’s presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin. 1 John 1:7

  1. This is a wonderful daily devotional, a little book that is amazingly spirit-filled with the Lord speaking deep into your soul! It brought me deep peace and joy. It is beneficial and exciting to first read how Sarah Young came to write JESUS CALLING, how her daily discussion with Christ turned into dialogue. Read this slowly and purposefully, as she suggests
