At times we are frustrated at God, angry at his refusal to give us what we want . . .

I am his child; but in his great wisdom, he let me realize that nowhere else in the whole wide world, nowhere in all creation, can I go from his presence. He wouldn’t let me go.

~~Jan Dravecky

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
The six year old, angry that mom won’t give her ice cream for lunch, packs up her belongings in a plastic bag and declares that she is running away. Mom keeps an eye out, watches her head to the neighbor’s home, and makes a quick phone call. Then she watches and waits. Her daughter will return. In short order, she discovers that she needs her mom, that no other place offers the comforts of home, and that mom loves her and wants the very best for her—which doesn’t include ice cream for lunch!
At times we are frustrated at God, angry at his refusal to give us what we want. We figuratively pack our bags to run away—only to discover that we cannot get away from his presence. He is watching, waiting, loving.
He loves you too much to let you go. So unpack your bags. You’re home.
Prayer for Meditation
Father, thank you for your loving pursuit of me in my willful wandering.
Scripture for Meditation Psalm 139:7-10
I can never escape from your Spirit!
     I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
    if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
   if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
   and your strength will support me.
