Grace is a free gift given to you

Nothing seems more miraculous,
more difficult for us who insist on figuring things out,
than this matter of grace.

~Elizabeth Elliot

This morning’s prayer and meditation for Sally’s healing comes from Take Heart, Oh God: Riches from the Greatest Christian Women Writers of All Time.
John Newton, author of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” said he had a habit of swearing that was as deeply rooted as a second nature. His last will and testament reads, “I was an apostate, a blasphemer, and an infidel.” The former slave trader continued, “I was capable of anything. I had not the least fear of God before my eyes.”
Yet God saved him. Why did God pour out his grace on such a violent man?
Because God loved him.
God loves you. Not because of who you are, not because of anything you’ve done, but just because he is the God of amazing grace. Nothing you’ve done is so bad that you are beyond the reach of his grace.
You won’t be able to figure it out; it doesn’t make sense. It’s nothing short of miraculous, this matter of grace.
And it’s a free gift given to you.
Prayer for Meditation
Lord, thank you for loving me, for showing me your amazing grace.
Scripture for Meditation
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 3:8-9
